Mackie Samoskevich scored with 5:25 remaining to give Seattle a 5-3 home victory over Utah on Thursday. His goal restored the Kraken’s lead after Logan Cooley had pulled the Mammoth even with two third-period goals.

Seattle entered the final period ahead 3-1. Cooley scored on the power play early in the third and added an even-strength goal to tie it. Samoskevich then made it 4-3 before Frederick Gaudreau sealed the result with an empty-net goal.

Jordan Eberle, Matty Beniers and Brandon Montour scored Seattle’s first three goals. Eberle and Montour each added an assist. Vincent Trocheck supplied Utah’s other goal.

The win left Seattle with seven victories, 15 points and 42 goals through 11 games, the strongest opening stretch in club history, according to the Kraken. Their analysis also noted that 13 Seattle players had scored at least twice, more than any other NHL team.

Philipp Grubauer turned aside 33 of 36 shots for Seattle. Karel Vejmelka stopped 18 of 22 for Utah, with the fifth Kraken goal going into the empty net.
