Montour scores first goal of season in return to Kraken lineup
The Seattle defenceman returned from a lower-body injury and joined Ryker Evans atop the club’s postgame skater ratings against Detroit.
Brandon Montour scored his first goal of the season in his return to the Seattle Kraken lineup on Tuesday, Oct. 20, helping Seattle beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 in a shootout. He had missed one game with a lower-body injury, according to The Associated Press.
Montour put Seattle ahead 3-0 with 3:59 left in the second period. In the Kraken’s postgame report, he said he had discussed his readiness with team staff and felt able to return. Detroit erased the lead in the third period before Seattle won the shootout.
The Kraken’s Sportlogiq postgame analysis rated Montour and fellow defenceman Ryker Evans as Seattle’s top two skaters. Evans also scored on the power play, becoming the 12th Kraken player with at least two goals this season, according to the club.
The same analysis credited the line of Matty Beniers, Jordan Eberle and Jared McCann with 52.6 percent of shot quality across 9:18 of play. Beniers led both teams with 11 controlled entries. Those figures came from the club’s data-driven assessment of the game.
