The Seattle Kraken host the Utah Mammoth on Thursday, Oct. 22, with Utah's power play presenting a particular challenge in the second game of Seattle's homestand.
The Mammoth have scored 13 power-play goals and converted 36.1 per cent of their opportunities, the best rate in the NHL, according to Seattle's game preview. The Kraken's report identifies avoiding unnecessary penalties as a priority against that unit.
Utah defenceman John Marino is day to day with an upper-body injury after being a late scratch for Monday’s 5-4 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, according to the NHL’s projected-lineup report. The same report says forward Michael Carcone was placed on injured reserve Tuesday and lists defenceman Maveric Lamoureux as injured with a shoulder issue.
Seattle's projected first forward line has Jared McCann with Matty Beniers and Jordan Eberle. Those combinations remain projections ahead of the game.
The club's preview also calls for sustained pressure from Seattle's forecheck, traffic in front of the net and fewer turnovers in its own zone. It highlights rebound control as another way for the Kraken to limit Utah's chances.
