How Hockey.com reports the news.

How our stories are made

Hockey.com uses AI to help follow the news across the NHL, AHL and PWHL and to help write stories. It assists our newsroom; it does not replace our judgment. Every story is checked against its sources before it is published, and our editors set our standards, oversee what we publish and review stories.

Sources

We report a trade, signing, waiver or assignment as done only once the club or league has announced it. Until then we report it as a report and name the reporter. When we build on another outlet's reporting, we credit it. We don't reuse other outlets' writing, and what a person said appears in quotation marks.

Quotes and images

We never invent quotes. Story photos are licensed from Reuters. Gear stories show the maker's product photos or brand logos, and a story without a photo shows the club crests or the league mark. We don't use AI-generated images as story covers. Our cartoon player portraits are illustrations made with AI, not photos.

Updates and corrections

When a story changes with new information, we add it to the story and say so. When we get a fact wrong, we fix it and add a note. Our corrections policy explains how to report an error.

Independence

Hockey.com is not affiliated with the NHL, AHL, PWHL or any club. We have no betting partners, and no one pays for our coverage.
