Drury joins Predators leadership group as alternate captain
Nashville added Jack Drury to the group led by captain Roman Josi after the centre arrived from Colorado this summer.
The Nashville Predators named Jack Drury an alternate captain before their season opener, the club reported Monday, Oct. 5. Coach Andrew Brunette told the team at the end of Thursday’s morning skate.
Drury joins captain Roman Josi and fellow alternates Ryan O’Reilly, Steven Stamkos and Filip Forsberg. It is his first permanent leadership role in the NHL, after wearing a letter in the minors and during NHL preseason games.
Brunette credited Drury’s competitiveness and his habits away from the rink. Drury said he would continue his usual approach and follow the example of Nashville’s veteran leaders.
The centre came to Nashville from Colorado during the summer and signed a five-year contract. The Predators’ announcement described his arrival as part of the club’s plans for its future.
