What to watch

Colten Ellis is expected to make his season debut in goal for Buffalo after taking the starter's crease at Monday's practice.¹
Danila Yurov left Monday's Minnesota practice as a precaution with an upper-body injury, and his status for tonight is not yet confirmed.¹
The Sabres said Jiri Kulich centres Peyton Krebs and Konsta Helenius, while Ryan McLeod centres Beck Malenstyn and Sam Carrick.¹

Goalies

Colten EllisStart

Ellis is the expected starter. The cited club report does not list a complete projected lineup.

Out: Alex Lyon (upper body, has not returned to practice), Jason Zucker (sports hernia, on injured reserve), Conor Timmins (lower body, on injured reserve)²

What they are evaluating²

Coach Lindy Ruff moved Noah Ostlund to the top power-play unit to add another left shot and create more one-time chances.
Ruff says the team will calm down once the power play starts scoring after an 0-for-8 start.

Five of the last eight meetings between these teams needed overtime or a shootout. Seven of the eight were decided by one goal.¹
