Sabres host Senators in Hometown Remix uniform debut
Buffalo returns from a California sweep with Colten Ellis expected to start; Ottawa remains without Linus Ullmark.
Buffalo will wear its Hometown Remix uniforms in a game for the first time Wednesday when the Sabres host the Ottawa Senators at KeyBank Center. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Sabres return from California having won all three games on the trip. Their official preview lists Colten Ellis as the expected starter after he earned two of those victories.
Zach Benson is available, coach Lindy Ruff said, after the forward returned to full practice Tuesday following a maintenance day Monday.
Ottawa is dealing with absences in goal and up front. Linus Ullmark has travelled with the Senators while recovering from a lower-body injury, but Buffalo’s preview says he is not expected to play Wednesday. William Eklund is out with an ankle injury.
Ullmark skated at the end of Ottawa’s practice Tuesday, NHL.com reported. Coach Travis Green described that as a “step in the right direction”. Samuel Ersson and Jonas Johansson have shared the goaltending duties during Ullmark’s absence.
This is the first of four meetings between the Atlantic Division opponents this season. MSG’s coverage in the Sabres’ broadcast market begins at 7 p.m.
