Kaufland becomes presenting sponsor of NHL Global Series Germany
A multiyear agreement also gives the retailer grocery partnership rights in Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The NHL announced a multiyear deal with Kaufland on Thursday that puts the retailer’s name on the Global Series Germany and makes it the league’s official grocery retail partner in Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Ottawa and Chicago will play at PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf on Dec. 18 and 20. The opening game is scheduled for 7 p.m. CET, with a 2 p.m. CET start for the second.
The agreement gives Kaufland advertising space at the games and on European broadcasts, including digitally enhanced boards and virtual in-ice placements. Its rights also extend to the league’s Monday-night broadcasts aimed at European prime-time audiences.
Kaufland plans store and digital promotions, prize opportunities and Stanley Cup appearances. It will also take part in Hockey Day events in Germany and the Czech Republic and the Düsseldorf Global Series Fan Fest.
