Amadio scores late as Senators rally past Sabres 2-1
Ottawa scored twice in the third period, ending Buffalo’s three-game winning streak.
A Michael Amadio goal with 3:09 remaining completed Ottawa’s comeback for a 2-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Wednesday.
Tim Stützle set up Amadio for the deciding shot from the left circle. Shane Pinto had brought the Senators level at 11:33 of the third period, converting a rebound after Colten Ellis stopped Philip Tomasino.
Buffalo’s only goal came at 14:00 of the second. Peyton Krebs redirected a Tage Thompson shot with his leg to put the Sabres ahead.
Samuel Ersson finished with 24 saves as Ottawa improved to 10-6-1. Ellis made 28 stops for Buffalo, which fell to 7-5-3.
Ersson started while Linus Ullmark remained out with a lower-body injury. TSN reported before the game that Ullmark had joined Wednesday’s optional skate but would not start.
