Robertson scores twice as Penguins shut out Flyers 7-0

Arturs Silovs made 19 saves and Filip Hallander added three points as Pittsburgh opened the season with a win in Philadelphia.

Nick Robertson scored twice and Arturs Silovs stopped all 19 shots he faced as the Pittsburgh Penguins opened the 2026-27 regular season with a 7-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Sept. 30.

Six Penguins scored in the win. Filip Hallander had a goal and two assists, while Ville Koivunen, Evgeni Malkin, Hendrix Lapierre and Egor Chinakhov each scored once. Pittsburgh outshot Philadelphia 38-19.

Robertson opened the scoring at 7:26 of the first period by deflecting a Kris Letang shot. Sidney Crosby also assisted on that goal. Koivunen added Pittsburgh’s second at 15:44, giving the Penguins a two-goal lead at the first intermission.

Pittsburgh pulled away with three goals in the second period. Malkin scored on the power play at 5:03, Lapierre followed at 7:26 and Hallander made it 5-0 at 10:23.

Robertson’s second goal came shorthanded at 11:52 of the third, when his shot went wide, rebounded off the end boards and entered the net off Dan Vladar’s skate. Chinakhov completed the scoring with a power-play goal at 16:37.

Vladar made 31 saves on 38 shots for Philadelphia. The Flyers failed to score on three power plays and allowed two goals on Pittsburgh’s four opportunities. Silovs finished with a shutout in his first start of the season.
