Edmonton Oilers winger Vasily Podkolzin received a game misconduct at 8:06 of the first period against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday after going after defenceman Drew Helleson at Rogers Place. Helleson had knocked Connor McDavid into the Anaheim net moments earlier, Sportsnet reported.

The NHL game report credited Helleson with a hit on McDavid at 8:04. Officials gave Podkolzin a minor for instigating and a fighting major in addition to the misconduct. Helleson received a minor for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Cutter Gauthier opened the scoring for Anaheim on the resulting power play at 9:26. McDavid went down the tunnel after the hit, then returned and picked up an assist on Edmonton's tying goal at 19:41.
