Ryan Nugent-Hopkins can become the Edmonton Oilers’ outright leader in regular-season games played when they visit the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Nugent-Hopkins drew level with Kevin Lowe at 1,037 appearances in Sunday’s 4-1 victory over the New York Rangers. His next game would establish the franchise record. The NHL’s career statistics list the two players together atop Edmonton’s games-played standings.

Edmonton selected Nugent-Hopkins first overall in the 2011 draft. Now in his 16th NHL season, he has spent his entire career with the Oilers.

Speaking to Sportsnet ahead of the milestone, Nugent-Hopkins expressed appreciation for the organization’s continued trust through difficult seasons. Lowe praised his versatility across different positions and special-teams assignments.

“It’s still a little surreal,” Nugent-Hopkins told Sportsnet.
