Connor McDavid has turned seven of his eight goals this season into rush goals, NHL EDGE reported Friday. Its tracking definition counts goals scored within five seconds of the puck entering the offensive zone. No other NHL player has more than four this season.

The Edmonton captain also leads the league with 23 skating bursts at 22 mph or faster and 95 at 20 mph or faster. Those measures add context to his 31 points through Edmonton’s first 10 games.

McDavid has supplied 18 primary assists, twice the next-highest total of nine. His points account for 31 of the Oilers’ 46 goals, or 67.4 per cent, according to NHL.com.

He added two goals and three assists in Thursday’s 6-5 shootout victory over Carolina. Sportsnet reported that the performance gave him an Oilers record for points through the opening 10 games of a season.
