Connor McDavid extended his assist streak to 13 games from the start of the season on Wednesday, establishing an NHL record during Edmonton’s home game against Calgary.

The Oilers captain earned an assist on Mathieu Joseph’s goal at 7:46 of the first period at Rogers Place. McDavid had recorded at least one assist in each of Edmonton’s first 12 games.

Wayne Gretzky set the previous season-opening mark of 12 games with Edmonton in 1982-83. Ken Linseman matched it with Boston in 1985-86, as did Sebastian Aho with Carolina in 2018-19.
