Canadiens sign Alex Newhook to four-year, $22.2M extension
The new contract begins in 2027-28 and keeps the 25-year-old forward with Montreal through the 2030-31 season.
The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Alex Newhook to a four-year, $22.2 million contract extension. The agreement carries an average annual value of $5.55 million.
The extension begins in 2027-28, after Newhook completes the final season of the four-year, $11.6 million contract he signed with Montreal in 2023. The new deal runs through 2030-31.
Newhook, 25, recorded 13 goals and 25 points in 42 regular-season games last season. A fractured ankle required surgery and interrupted his year, but he returned in late February and added 10 points in 19 playoff games during Montreal's run to the Eastern Conference Final.
Newhook scored the winning goal in two Game 7 victories during that postseason. His extension places him alongside Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky and Ivan Demidov among the Canadiens forwards signed through at least 2030.
