Leon Draisaitl, Devin Cooley and Jacob Fowler have been named the NHL's Three Stars for the week ending Oct. 25. The selections recognise their performances during that award period.
Draisaitl, the Oilers centre, scored twice in each of his three games. His six goals led the League that week, and his nine points (6-3-9) placed second. Five of the goals came on the power play, three more than the next-closest player. He had two power-play goals in a 4-3 overtime win over Minnesota on Oct. 20, then went 2-3-5 in a 6-5 shootout win over the defending Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes on Oct. 22. He scored both Edmonton goals in a 7-2 loss to Toronto on Oct. 24. He finished the week with 12 goals and 23 points through 11 games, and the Oilers (8-2-1) moved into first in the Pacific Division.
Cooley, the Flames goaltender, stopped 66 of 68 shots in two starts for a 1.00 goals-against average and .971 save percentage. He made 38 saves in a 2-1 win over the Wild on Oct. 22, then stopped 28 of 29 in a 4-1 win over Detroit on Oct. 24. Calgary was 4-6-0 through Oct. 25 after winning three straight.
Fowler, the Canadiens rookie, went 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and .964 save percentage. He stopped 20 of 21 shots in a 4-1 win over Chicago on Oct. 23. Two days later he made 33 saves on 34 shots in a 2-1 win over Winnipeg at the Heritage Classic. At 21 years, 335 days, he became the youngest goaltender to start and win an outdoor NHL game. Montreal was 6-3-2 through Oct. 25, holding the final playoff spot in the East.
