Blues seek response to shutout loss as Canadiens visit Tuesday

St. Louis hosts Montreal at Enterprise Center on Tuesday, Oct. 27, three days after a 4-0 loss to Carolina ended its unbeaten start to the homestand.

The St. Louis Blues host the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, Oct. 27, looking for a response to Saturday's 4-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. The game at Enterprise Center starts at 7 p.m. CT.

Saturday's defeat was the first of the Blues' five-game homestand and the first time they were shut out this season. Carolina goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov earned his first shutout of the season and his seventh straight win, and Carolina scored twice within 20 seconds in the second period, through Sean Walker and Jesperi Kotkaniemi, before adding a power-play goal early in the third.

Head coach Jim Montgomery called the loss "very humbling." "[The game] was a tutorial by Stanley Cup champions about how to play to who you are no matter the score," he said.

Tuesday is the first of two meetings with Montreal this season. St. Louis swept the 2025-26 season series, outscoring the Canadiens 6-3 over two games.

Montreal arrives at 6-3-2, fifth in the Atlantic Division. The Canadiens reached the Eastern Conference Final last spring, beating Tampa Bay and Buffalo in seven games each before Carolina eliminated them in five. Over the summer they signed Ivan Demidov to an eight-year extension; the 2024 No. 5 pick had 19 goals and 62 points in his first full NHL season.

The game is on Blue Note+ and 101 ESPN.
