Andersen, Savoie Among Four Oilers Out for Training Camp
Edmonton announced Wednesday that goaltender Frederik Andersen and forward Matt Savoie both sustained injuries during off-season training and will not be at camp next month.
The Edmonton Oilers open training camp on September 16 without their highest-profile off-season addition in net. Frederik Andersen, who signed with Edmonton on a one-year deal this summer after helping Carolina win the Stanley Cup, suffered an injury during off-season training and will not participate in camp. The team provided no specific timeline for his return.
Matt Savoie is also out. The 22-year-old forward, coming off a full 82-game season with the Oilers in 2025-26, picked up an injury in an off-season training session as well.
Defenseman Alec Regula and forward Mattias Janmark round out the group. Regula is recovering from a medical procedure performed shortly after last season ended. Janmark is also recovering from a medical procedure conducted shortly after last season ended.
The Oilers open the regular season on September 29. Andersen's absence puts the goaltending picture in flux from the jump. Edmonton also has Tristan Jarry and Devon Levi in the fold heading into camp.
