Matthew Wood is expected to make his first home appearance for the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday against the Calgary Flames at Climate Pledge Arena. The Flames list the start time as 9 p.m. MT.

Calgary’s official preview says Seattle is expected to use Wood on right wing with Chandler Stephenson and Freddy Gaudreau. The Kraken acquired Wood from Nashville over the weekend in exchange for Shane Wright.

Wood told reporters Tuesday that being closer to home would give him more chances to see family. He was born in Lethbridge and grew up in Nanaimo, B.C., according to the Flames.

Seattle returns to action after losing 6-2 in Calgary on Friday. Wednesday is the teams’ final meeting of the regular season, and the Kraken will wear their new Hometown Remix jerseys for the first time.

Calgary is finishing a three-game road trip after a 2-1 win in San Jose on Monday. Dustin Wolf made 26 saves, William Stromgren scored his first NHL goal and Jonathan Castagna had two assists in that victory.
