Thunderbirds announce November food collection for Mayflower Marathon

The Springfield Thunderbirds will collect non-perishable food for Springfield’s Open Pantry at the MassMutual Center box office from November 1 through November 20, the AHL club announced Friday.

The collection opens during Sunday’s 3:05 p.m. game against the Hartford Wolf Pack. It ends at the Mayflower Marathon Kickoff Night on Friday, November 20, with a 7:05 p.m. start and appearances by Rock 102 hosts Bax and Nagle.

The initiative is part of the Thunderbirds’ fifth season working with Rock 102 on the Mayflower Marathon. The radio station’s hosts will broadcast for 52 hours from November 23 to 25 while accepting food outside MGM Springfield’s South End Market.
