Springfield loans Ryan Wheeler to Worcester

The Thunderbirds sent the defenceman to their ECHL affiliate after signing him to an AHL contract in July.

The Springfield Thunderbirds have loaned defenceman Ryan Wheeler to the Worcester Railers. Worcester announced the move on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Wheeler joined Springfield on a one-year AHL contract announced July 22. He had spent the previous three seasons with Adirondack in the ECHL and captained that club in 2025-26.

In 72 games for Adirondack last season, Wheeler recorded two goals and 16 assists. He also scored in his only AHL appearance with the Utica Comets during the 2024-25 season.
