Checkers seek response in playoff rematch with Thunderbirds
Charlotte visits Springfield on Sunday after both clubs lost Saturday, renewing a matchup decided in three playoff games last spring.
The Charlotte Checkers visit the Springfield Thunderbirds on Sunday, Oct. 11, at the MassMutual Center, with puck drop at 3:05 p.m. ET. The game is available on AHLTV on FloHockey.
Charlotte enters at 1-2-0-0 after a 6-2 loss to the Providence Bruins on Saturday. Springfield is 2-1-0-0 following a 5-2 defeat to the Laval Rocket, its first loss of the season.
The meeting gives Charlotte another look at the team that ended its season in April. Springfield recovered from a one-game deficit to eliminate the Checkers in the best-of-three first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.
The Thunderbirds are looking for a better performance on the power play after their struggles against Laval. Charlotte, meanwhile, completes its four-game road stretch to open the season before returning home to face Hartford on Friday, Oct. 16.
