What's newOttawa placed Ullmark on injured reserve Thursday with a lower-body injury and recalled Jonas Johansson from Belleville.

The Ottawa Senators placed goalie Linus Ullmark on injured reserve Thursday, Oct. 22, with a lower-body injury, a day after he left their 5-1 win over the Florida Panthers with 16:25 remaining in the third period.

Ottawa recalled Jonas Johansson from Belleville of the American Hockey League to back up Samuel Ersson against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. Johansson, 31, is 3-1-1 with a 2.92 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage in five games with Belleville this season.

Ullmark remained down after stopping a shot by Brady Tkachuk on a rush, and a trainer and teammate Claude Giroux helped him off the ice. He had made 17 saves on 18 shots before departing.

It was Ullmark’s second early exit this month. He also left the Oct. 5 game in Boston after a collision. Coach Travis Green described that earlier departure as precautionary, according to ESPN’s report from that game.

The Panthers were visiting Canadian Tire Centre for Tkachuk’s first game in Ottawa since his June 21 trade from the Senators.
