Ridly Greig drew praise from coach Travis Green and teammate Tim Stützle for his defensive work in Ottawa's 5-1 home win over Florida on Wednesday, Oct. 21, despite finishing without a point.

The Senators assigned Greig, Shane Pinto and Michael Amadio to defend against the Panthers' first line. In the club's postgame report, Pinto described an approach built around concentrating on each shift and accepting contact to move the puck out of the defensive zone.

Greig recorded two hits, one shot and seven penalty minutes. He was on the ice for Pinto's second-period goal, which put Ottawa ahead 3-1, and finished with a plus-1 rating.

Stützle said Greig had probably delivered his best performance of the season. Green praised the forward's value in demanding, physical games and said Wednesday's win was probably Ottawa's most complete effort of the young season.
