Sabres’ Jiri Kulich hit in face by puck at practice; Saturday status uncertain
Lindy Ruff said the centre was being examined after leaving Friday’s practice ahead of Buffalo’s road trip.
Buffalo Sabres centre Jiri Kulich needed medical attention after a deflected puck struck him in the face during a power-play drill at Friday’s practice.
Coach Lindy Ruff said afterward that Kulich was seeing a doctor and that he did not yet know whether the forward would be available for Saturday’s game in Washington. The Sabres’ official practice report and Buffalo Hockey Beat both described the incident.
The injury came before Buffalo’s line rushes. The club said Tage Thompson could move back to centre between Jason Zucker and Konsta Helenius if Kulich cannot play.
Buffalo begins a four-game road trip Saturday, with stops in Washington and California. No diagnosis or return date for Kulich had been announced in the reports.
