What's newRuff plans to reunite the top power-play unit with Dahlin, while Ellis occupied the starter’s crease at Tuesday’s practice.
Rasmus Dahlin and Jason Zucker are expected to return for the Buffalo Sabres against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday, Oct. 21, according to the club’s game preview. The game at KeyBank Center starts at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Dahlin resumed full practice Monday after missing three games with an upper-body injury sustained against Florida on Oct. 12. The captain told reporters he expected to be ready for Wednesday, while coach Lindy Ruff said he had progressed during Buffalo’s road trip.
Zucker is preparing for his season debut after sports hernia surgery in August. The Sabres’ injury update says he has been practising with the team since Oct. 6.
Ruff plans to begin with Dahlin back on the top power-play unit, which scored three goals in two games before the defenceman’s absence. He said the units could still be adjusted as Buffalo works returning players into the lineup.
Colten Ellis was in the starter’s crease at Tuesday’s practice, the club reported. That points to a possible return to the net after he did not play on Buffalo’s three-game Canadian road trip; the preview did not confirm him as Wednesday’s starter.
