Sabres Return to Bell Centre Looking to Stop Chasing Games
Buffalo meets Montreal for the second time in five days on Saturday, with Rasmus Dahlin still out and a run of multi-goal comebacks the story of its early season.
The Buffalo Sabres visit the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Saturday, Oct. 17, for their second meeting in five days. The game starts at 7 p.m. ET.
Buffalo enters at 4-3-1 after overcoming a 4-2 deficit to beat Toronto in overtime Thursday on an Owen Power goal. Coach Lindy Ruff said in the Sabres’ official preview that the club needs better starts after repeatedly falling behind early this season.
Montreal won Tuesday’s meeting in a shootout. Buffalo produced only 16 shots but recovered from a 3-1 deficit in the third period to earn a point.
Rasmus Dahlin remains out with an upper-body injury, although Ruff reported improvement Friday. Dennis Gilbert is likely to remain in the lineup, according to the club. Buffalo said its full projected lineup would be available during warmups.
The Canadiens return home after Wednesday’s 5-4 loss in Washington. Montreal had not confirmed whether Jakub Dobes or Jacob Fowler would start when Buffalo published its preview.
