PWHL Lands First Season Long U.S. National TV Deal

The PWHL will have a national television home in the United States for a full season for the first time, announcing a broadcast rights agreement with Scripps Sports for 2026-27 on September 9.

The centerpiece is a Saturday "Game of the Week" produced by Scripps and aired exclusively in the U.S. on ION, the company's national sports and entertainment network, which reaches more than 128 million households over the air, on pay TV, connected TV and streaming. Scripps Sports Network, the free ad-supported streaming channel available on The Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus, Prime Video, Fire TV, Google TV Freeplay and Tubi, will carry two additional national games per week.

ION also returns as the exclusive U.S. home of the Walter Cup Finals and will air one Walter Cup Playoff series. Every game will still stream live on the league's YouTube channel and thePWHL.com for fans in the U.S. and worldwide outside Canada.

Two Scripps local stations become the broadcast partners for the league's new markets: WMYD-TV (The Spot Detroit 20) and KMCC-TV (The Spot Vegas 34). Detroit and Las Vegas are two of the four expansion clubs, along with Hamilton and San Jose, that push the PWHL to 12 teams this season after the league completed Phase 4 of its expansion player distribution process, including expansion roster completion, on June 15.

"A season-long national television presence in the U.S. is something we've been working toward…," said Amy Scheer, the PWHL's executive vice president of business operations.

Scripps and ION aired the league's first game on national linear television in the U.S. last season, a Takeover Tour matchup between the New York Sirens and Montreal Victoire, and carried the 2026 Walter Cup Finals.
