Pohlkamp, Huntington Score in Sharks Preseason Loss
The pair supplied San Jose’s goals in a 6-2 defeat at Anaheim; Beckett Sennecke scored three for the Ducks.
Eric Pohlkamp and Jimmy Huntington scored for the San Jose Sharks in a 6-2 NHL preseason loss to the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on Sunday. The game also offered a look at players who could factor into the San Jose Barracuda's AHL season, though it did not determine their assignments.
Pohlkamp opened the scoring 1:37 into the first period with a shot off a pass from Ethan Cardwell. Huntington tied the game 2-2 at 11:05 of the second, taking Brett Leason's pass from the right boards and scoring on a breakaway. The NHL's game report confirms both goals and the assists.
Beckett Sennecke then scored three consecutive Anaheim goals, including one on the power play, for a natural hat trick. Jackson LaCombe, Leo Carlsson and Tristan Luneau also scored for the Ducks.
San Jose Hockey Now's rinkside notes singled out Pohlkamp's activity at both ends of the ice, but also noted that he chased a loose puck low before Carlsson scored. The same report described Sam Dickinson's work in corner battles and a difficult sequence for Leo Sahlin Wallenius against Anaheim's forecheck. Those observations are from the NHL exhibition, ahead of any final Barracuda roster decisions.
