Sharks hold players-only meeting after 7-2 loss to Kings
Kiefer Sherwood puts responsibility on the players after San Jose loses for the fifth time in six games.
San Jose's players held a meeting after their 7-2 loss to Los Angeles on Wednesday, with Kiefer Sherwood saying the responsibility for the team's struggles belonged to the players.
Sherwood said the Sharks needed to compete harder and play together, according to NHL.com. San Jose has lost three straight games and five of its past six.
"It's unacceptable. It's not good enough. To a man, to a team. It's not on the coaches right now," Sherwood said.
Macklin Celebrini declined to share the meeting's message, telling NHL.com it was private. He said the players remained confident in one another but needed to address their poor form. Coach Ryan Warsofsky welcomed the initiative from his leaders.
The Sharks continue their road trip against Minnesota on Friday and Dallas on Saturday.
