Lars Eller is set to make his 1,200th NHL appearance when Florida hosts Chicago on Wednesday. The Panthers say he will be the first Denmark-born player to reach that total.

Eller enters the game with 194 goals and 253 assists for 447 career points. Eight of those points have come in his first 15 appearances for Florida this season.

Panthers coach Paul Maurice praised Eller's attention to the fundamentals ahead of the milestone, saying his intensity and quickness remain strong. Eller told the club that reaching this point felt special, recalling how distant an NHL career had seemed when he was a child.

He also made the difference in Florida's previous meeting with Chicago, scoring late in the third period of a 3-2 road win on Oct. 25. Eller cautioned against underestimating the Blackhawks in the rematch.
