Lacey Eden Makes Hometown Appearance After PWHL Draft Selection
The Las Vegas first-round pick threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Baysox on Friday.
Lacey Eden, selected fifth overall by PWHL Las Vegas in June's draft, appeared at the Chesapeake Baysox's Women in Sports Night on Friday, July 17 at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie.
The Annapolis native threw out a ceremonial first pitch before the Baysox faced the Hartford Yard Goats and hosted a meet-and-greet with fans on the concourse, according to oursportscentral.com.
Eden became the first Maryland-born player ever chosen in a PWHL draft when Las Vegas took her in the first round on June 17. The 24-year-old forward just completed her final season at Wisconsin, where she led the nation in scoring with 29 goals and 48 assists in 41 games while captaining the Badgers to a national championship.
She is the only player in Wisconsin history to win four NCAA national championships. Across 178 career games, Eden recorded 245 points and earned All-WCHA honors three times, per thepwhl.com.
Eden has represented Team USA at five World Championships, winning two gold medals and three silver medals. She will join Las Vegas, an expansion team entering the league for the upcoming season, where she'll be coached by Maryland native Kim Weiss, according to wmar2news.com.
The event at Prince George's Stadium included a women's networking event before first pitch and featured women-owned businesses tabling along the concourse.
