Korpisalo stops 34 shots in conditioning start for Hartford

The Rangers goaltender returned to game action in a 4-1 loss to Hershey on Wednesday.

Joonas Korpisalo made 34 saves on 37 shots for the Hartford Wolf Pack on Wednesday as his conditioning stint opened with a 4-1 road loss to the Hershey Bears. It was his first game action in more than a month, according to Forever Blueshirts.

Korpisalo stopped 11 of 12 shots in the first period. Hershey added two power-play goals in the second, and the goaltender made nine saves in the third before the Bears finished the scoring into an empty net.

Hartford broke through with 2:38 remaining in regulation, but could not overcome a three-goal deficit. The loss left the Wolf Pack at 6-7-1-0.

The New York Rangers had loaned Korpisalo to their AHL affiliate for conditioning after he missed the start of the season with a lower-body injury. His next step has not been announced. Hartford continues its road trip Friday in Rochester.
