Kings Open 2026 Training Camp With 63 Players

The Los Angeles Kings opened training camp Thursday at Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo with 63 players: 35 forwards, 22 defensemen and six goaltenders.

The roster is divided into three groups to begin camp, with the assignments subject to change each day. Twenty-four players on the roster appeared in at least one game for Los Angeles last season.

Drew Doughty enters his 19th NHL season after being named the 15th captain in franchise history. He is 17 games from tying Dustin Brown for second on the Kings' all-time games-played list.

Artemi Panarin is preparing for his first full season with Los Angeles after arriving from the New York Rangers in February. He recorded 27 points in 26 regular-season games after his Kings debut, tying Adrian Kempe for the team lead over that span.

Kempe returns after leading Los Angeles with 36 goals, 37 assists and 73 points and winning the team's most valuable player award. Defenseman Brandt Clarke also returns after setting career highs with eight goals, 32 assists and 40 points in 82 games. Clarke signed a five-year contract in June.

Thirty-two camp players were drafted by the Kings, including 2026 second-round picks Liam Lefebvre and Adam Goljer. Veteran additions Mats Zuccarello, Erik Haula and Erik Gustafsson are also on the roster.

Los Angeles will play four preseason games. The schedule begins Saturday with the Empire Classic against the Vegas Golden Knights at Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT.
