Martin Chromiak played his first NHL game for the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday against Buffalo, taking a place in the lineup with Adrian Kempe unavailable.

Kempe was considered day-to-day with an undisclosed ailment, Pro Hockey Rumors reported, citing Kings reporter Zach Dooley. Chromiak was placed alongside Artemi Panarin on the top line.

The Kings had recalled Chromiak from the Ontario Reign on Oct. 29. The club said he had six goals and eight points in nine AHL games this season.

Los Angeles selected Chromiak in the fifth round of the 2020 draft. He led Ontario with 56 points in 71 games last season, according to the Kings.
