Hurricanes seek fresh start in Vancouver after winning streak ends
Carolina visits the Canucks on Tuesday with injuries affecting its centres and a chance to sweep the season series.
The Carolina Hurricanes visit the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 20, seeking a response after their seven-game winning streak ended in Calgary. Puck drop is at 10 p.m. ET.
Carolina enters at 7-2-1 after Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the Flames. Entering Tuesday, Vancouver is 2-7-1 after 10 games and returns home from a six-game trip that produced one point, according to the Hurricanes’ preview.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi has scored in consecutive games and has taken on more responsibility with centres Mark Jankowski and Jordan Staal sidelined. Carolina said Jankowski had returned to Raleigh for further assessment of a lower-body injury.
The club’s preview identified Pyotr Kochetkov as the likely starter after Brandon Bussi played in Calgary; it did not confirm a goaltender. Kochetkov has won his first five starts while allowing no more than two goals in any of them.
The Hurricanes won the first meeting 7-2 in Raleigh on Oct. 8, with Logan Stankoven scoring a natural hat trick. Tuesday is the second and final meeting of the season.
The game is available on the Hurricanes Hockey Network through Prime Video, Spectrum and Fubo.
