Rod Brind'Amour moved ahead of Paul Maurice for the most regular-season coaching wins in Hurricanes franchise history when Carolina beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The victory was Brind'Amour's 385th in 625 games behind Carolina's bench, surpassing Maurice's 384, the Hurricanes announced Sunday. Brind'Amour also leads the franchise with 63 playoff victories.

He became head coach before the 2018-19 season and has taken Carolina to the playoffs in each of his first eight seasons, with at least one series win in every appearance. The club says he is the first NHL coach to begin his head-coaching career with that run.

Carolina won its second Stanley Cup in June under Brind'Amour, who had also captained the team to a championship as a player. He became the fourth person in NHL history to captain a Stanley Cup winner and coach one to the title, according to the Hurricanes.

Saturday's result gave the defending champions seven consecutive wins and a 7-1-1 record. They are 5-0-0 on the road and visit the Calgary Flames on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. ET.
