Hoglander scores winner as Predators beat Stars for first win
Nils Hoglander scored the deciding power-play goal at 15:49 of the first period, and Juuse Saros stopped 29 shots in Nashville’s 2-1 victory.
Nils Hoglander's first goal for Nashville proved decisive in a 2-1 home win over Dallas at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday, Oct. 3. Juuse Saros made 29 saves as the Predators earned their first victory of the season.
All three goals came in the opening period. Miro Heiskanen gave Dallas the lead after 47 seconds, taking Mikko Rantanen's pass and beating Saros with a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle.
Steven Stamkos brought Nashville level on a power play at 4:46. Ryan O'Reilly's backhand pass reached Stamkos in the left circle for a one-timer.
Hoglander scored Nashville's second power-play goal at 15:49. Jack Ahcan's shot from the left point struck Hoglander's left skate near the crease and went in. Ahcan earned his first point for the Predators in his Nashville debut.
Casey DeSmith stopped 24 shots for Dallas. Nashville moved to 1-1-0 after losing its opener to Minnesota, while Dallas remained without a win after two games.
