Devils await Siegenthaler update before hosting Canucks
Johnathan Kovacevic could return to New Jersey’s defence if Jonas Siegenthaler cannot play Saturday.
The New Jersey Devils have not ruled Jonas Siegenthaler out for Saturday’s home game against Vancouver, with Johnathan Kovacevic a possible replacement on defence.
Siegenthaler was injured against Utah. Kovacevic, who missed training camp and the opening of the season with a knee injury, has been practising with the team this week.
The Devils’ preview projects Kovacevic alongside Brenden Dillon if he returns. Declan Chisholm would move to the left side alongside Dougie Hamilton, while New Jersey plans to restore its earlier forward combinations.
New Jersey has lost two straight games after opening with an overtime win against Philadelphia. Vancouver arrives after a 7-2 loss in Carolina on Thursday, early in its six-game East Coast trip.
Puck drop in Newark is scheduled for 3:38 p.m. ET. The Devils will skip the morning skate because of the early start.
