Kyle Connor did it again in Michigan. He scored twice and added an assist Sunday, Oct. 4, as the Winnipeg Jets beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 for their first win of the season.

Connor now has 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in eight appearances in his home state. The Jets built a 3-0 lead in the second period and held on, scoring three times on the power play. It was their first three-power-play-goal game on the road since February 2022, and it snapped a 2-for-21 skid with the man advantage in their previous 10 meetings with Detroit.

Cole Perfetti opened the scoring at 13:04 of the first period when Connor's slot pass deflected off his stick, went into the air and over Red Wings goalie John Gibson. Connor made it 2-0 at 14:36. He walked in on Gibson and went short side, under the crossbar. Connor added another power-play goal at 5:41 of the second period, converting the rebound of a Josh Morrissey shot. Perfetti finished with a goal and two assists, and Morrissey had two helpers.

Detroit got its first goal of the season with just over three minutes left in the second, when former Jet Andrew Copp sent a cross-crease pass to Viktor Arvidsson. Emmitt Finnie cut it to 3-2 at 4:56 of the third on a pass from Michael Brandsegg-Nygård.

Winnipeg had lost its opener Friday, 4-3 in overtime to Boston, a game in which Connor extended his NHL-record goal streak in season openers to nine. Detroit had been shut out by the Rangers on Friday.
