Trevor Connelly scored at 18:18 of the third period to give the Vegas Golden Knights a 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday.

Jack Eichel found Connelly near the blue line. The 20-year-old cut past Michael Rasmussen in the left circle and put a wrist shot past Daniil Tarasov on the glove side.

Detroit had opened the scoring at 2:02 of the third when Anton Johansson collected a carom off the end boards and beat Carter Hart. Vegas needed just over two minutes to answer. Braeden Bowman scored at 4:20 after taking a pass from Tomas Hertl.

Hart stopped 25 of 26 shots as the Golden Knights won their second straight game. Tarasov made 32 saves for Detroit.
