Red Wings rookie Anton Johansson set for first matchup with MacKinnon and Makar
Detroit opens a four-game road trip in Colorado after Johansson scored its only goal against Vegas.
Detroit Red Wings rookie defenceman Anton Johansson is set to face Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar for the first time Saturday, when Detroit opens a four-game road trip against the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena. The game starts at 9 p.m. ET (7 p.m. MT).
Johansson scored Detroit’s only goal in a 2-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday. After Saturday’s optional morning skate, Red Wings coach Todd McLellan called for more production from his top players and said he had eased the workload in practice during a stretch of six games in 10 nights.
MacKinnon leads Colorado with 27 points in 17 games, including nine goals. The Avalanche are 6-1-1 at home.
