Jacob Fowler is the NHL's Rookie of the Month for October, the league announced Sunday. The Montreal Canadiens goaltender finished the month with seven wins in eight starts, two shutouts, a 1.84 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage.

Fowler lost his season opener against Nashville on Oct. 8 before winning his next seven appearances. The NHL said his seven October wins tied the rookie goaltending record shared by Michal Neuvirth, Ed Belfour and Jacques Plante.

His two shutouts came against Detroit on Oct. 10 and St. Louis on Oct. 27. He stopped 46 shots against the Blues, setting a Canadiens rookie shutout record for saves in the era when shots on goal have been officially tracked.

Fowler also helped Montreal beat Winnipeg 2-1 at the Heritage Classic on Oct. 25, making 33 saves.

The award extends Montreal's run of monthly rookie honours to a third consecutive season. Ivan Demidov won in December 2025, after Lane Hutson received the award in December 2024 and March 2025. Fowler is the first Canadiens goaltender selected since Carey Price in March 2008.
