What's newJulien BriseBois says Tampa Bay has no intention of trading Nikita Kucherov.
Tampa Bay general manager Julien BriseBois said Friday night that the Lightning intend to keep Nikita Kucherov, after reports that the winger had asked for a trade and would not sign a new contract.
“We unequivocally have no intention of trading Nikita,” BriseBois said in a statement reported by Sportsnet and The Associated Press.
Sportsnet reported that Kucherov had informed his teammates as well as the organization of his wishes. AP separately cited a person familiar with the situation, who spoke anonymously because the discussions were private.
ESPN also reported the trade request Friday, citing its own sources. Kucherov’s agent, Dan Milstein, had not immediately responded to ESPN’s request for comment.
