Amerks name Matthew Peca captain for 2026-27
Rochester appoints the veteran forward after he captained Springfield for three seasons.

Matthew Peca will captain the Rochester Americans for the 2026-27 season, the AHL club announced on Wednesday, Oct. 14. The Amerks identify him as the 66th captain in their history.
Peca joined Rochester on a multi-year AHL contract in July. He has opened the season with two goals and three assists in four games, recording at least a point in each appearance, according to the club.
He brings experience wearing the captain's letter from three seasons with the Springfield Thunderbirds. Rochester said the appointment makes this his fourth consecutive season as a team captain.
The Petawawa, Ont., native has also played in the AHL for Syracuse, Belleville and Laval. His NHL career included appearances with Tampa Bay, Montreal, Ottawa and St. Louis.
