

Blais, Daoust lift Belleville past Rochester in shootout
Jonas Johansson made 36 saves through overtime as Belleville earned its first win of the season, 3-2 on Sunday.


The Belleville Senators earned their first win of the AHL season with a 3-2 shootout victory over the Rochester Americans at CIBC Place on Sunday, Oct. 4.
Phil Tomasino and Sammy Blais scored their first goals for Belleville in regulation. Jonas Johansson made 36 saves on 38 shots through overtime, then stopped three of Rochester’s four shootout attempts.
Blais and Phil Daoust scored in the shootout to secure the victory.
Belleville had opened its season with a 5-2 loss to the Hamilton Hammers on Friday. The Senators head on the road for their next game.
