Warrior Super Novium: The Lightest Glove Warrior Has Built
Warrior's lightest glove yet chases featherlight weight with an EPP foam package and an AX Suede grip palm.
If you are the kind of player who notices a few grams on the ice, the Warrior Super Novium is built for you. Warrior calls it the lightest glove it has made to date, and the whole design is organized around shedding weight without giving up impact protection.
What it is. The Super Novium runs a Hybrid Traditional Fit, so it contours toward your hand instead of sitting boxy and loose. The protection comes from what Warrior labels Ultra Light Foam: an EPP foam package combined with plastic inserts in the backhand, cuff, and fingers, plus PE inserts to guard against slashes and blocked shots. That EPP package is the headline, and it is the reason the glove can chase a featherlight feel while still standing up to hard impacts.
The palm. Inside is the Pro Palm X, a pro tested AX Suede palm with an embossed grip. Warrior's pitch here is a balance of feel and durability, and the embossing is meant to give you stick control without the palm wearing through in a month. There is an AXY-FLEX thumb and an anatomical stretch backhand, plus what Warrior calls a Buttersoft Feel from responsive Lycra gussets and a plush liner. In practice that means the glove is meant to feel broken in out of the box rather than after twenty skates.
The cuff. The Pro Cuff extends your range of motion for puck handling while still covering your wrist against slashes, which is the usual trade every glove has to make between mobility and protection.
Who it is for. Players who prioritize weight and mobility, and who want the lightest option in Warrior's lineup, are the target.
Availability and price. Senior sizes are 13, 14, and 15. The listed price is $169.99, and at least one retailer has shown it on sale near $128. Some sizes were already sold out at the source listings, so stock is moving. Warrior does not publish a glove weight figure, so there is no exact number to cite yet.
