Warrior's Covert QR7 Pro Lands in All Four Sizes
Warrior's new Covert flagship is fully stocked at US retail, and the QR6 Pro it replaces has been pushed to clearance.
The Covert QR7 Pro is the new top of Warrior's Covert stick line. It sits above the QR7, the QR7 Team and the QR7 Rev, all four of which Ice Warehouse badges as new, and it replaces the QR6 Pro as the flagship. Ice Warehouse spells out the lineage on the product page: QR6 Pro, QRE 10, QR Edge, QRL, QR1 and DT1.
The headline change is the build process. Warrior calls it P.L. 188, a reimagined one piece construction that the brand says uses finer weight fibers along with a thermoplastic toughened epoxy resin. The pitch is that a tougher resin lets Warrior drop fiber weight without giving up durability, so the stick gets lighter and more consistent at once. That is a claim about resin chemistry rather than layup shape, and it is the part of this stick worth watching a season from now, once the first wave has been slashed at for a full winter.
Everything else is recognizably Covert. The shaft is Minimus Carbon 25, a carbon Warrior builds in extra thin layers, finished in the O.G. Shaft Shape with straight sidewalls, round corners and a tacky grip. The taper is Edge Taper, an angular lower shaft geometry. New is the Edge Blade, which the spec sheet describes as a redesigned leading edge that increases blade engagement with the ice, helping the stick load faster. The blade is Minimus Carbon 25 as well, with a textured face. Kick point is low. Ice Warehouse weighs it at 370 grams on its own scale, noting a 5 percent variance on everything it measures, so treat that as a retailer measurement rather than a Warrior spec. Senior sticks come in 65, 70, 75 and 85 flex with curves M03, W03, W28, W88 and W90TM. Intermediate, junior and youth sizes run a narrower curve selection. Warranty is 60 days.
Who is it for? Ice Warehouse rates it elite level, calls the shot profile quick releasing, and lists Dylan Larkin, Sebastian Aho and Erik Karlsson among the players on it.
Price and stock are the actual news. Ice Warehouse has the QR7 Pro at $369.99 senior, $339.99 intermediate and from $209.99 junior, with youth at $159.99, and every senior, intermediate and junior configuration was in stock when we looked. HockeyMonkey matches those three prices and lists youth at $169.99. Neither retailer is discounting it. The QR6 Pro is where the money is: Ice Warehouse has it on clearance at $159.97 to $259.97, marked 25 percent off, and HockeyMonkey has the senior version at $259.98, down from $349.99. If the Edge Blade is not the reason you are shopping, last year's flagship is a lot of stick right now.
