Goalie Pads for 2026-27: What the Spec Sheets Say
Seven senior leg pads from Bauer, CCM, Vaughn, Warrior, TRUE and Brian's, with what each maker or its retailers list and what named stores charge as of October 16, 2026.
New pads cost more than any other piece of goalie gear, and the spec sheets use a lot of brand names for similar ideas. This guide sets out what each manufacturer and its retailers say about the pad, with prices from named stores. It is a spec comparison, not an on-ice test: The Lab has not worn or measured these pads, and nothing here ranks them.
How to choose
Fit and sizing come first. Vaughn's pages list sizes such as 34+2, and its VX1 Pro page, for one, lists a "Plus 2″ thigh rise." The Hockey Shop lists the Warrior Alpha Surge in sizes 32+1.5 to 36+1.5 and the TRUE Catalyst Nitro Pro in 32+2 to 35+2. Brian's sizes the Kryptik in plain inches, 31 to 38. Use the maker's own size guide, and have a fitter check where your knee lands on the pad, before you trust any size you wore in another brand.
Face and outer roll. Some pads have flat knee rolls and a single break, and some have a solid outside roll with no break at the knee. Vaughn makes both, and its VX1 Pro and ION Pro show the difference. The face affects how the pad looks to shooters and how it bends, so compare the two shapes on the wall at a store if you can.
Knee landing. Every pad here describes its knee block or landing zone in some detail: CCM's one-piece DRS Pro+ landing zone, Bauer's STABILISLIDE knee block, Brian's integrated knee block with KOROYD foam. How the landing sits under your knee in the butterfly matters more than the name.
Strapping. Check how the pad connects at the calf and the toe, and how much of it you can adjust. CCM lists two adjustment areas, Bauer a single-bracket calf plate and an elastic toe system, Brian's a three-setting calf strap, and GoalieMonkey describes simple adjustments across the knees and calves on the Warrior.
Price ranges. In this group, stock senior pads run from about US$1,050 to US$2,000. Several makers also sell custom builds at the top of that range or above it. Canadian prices are higher and vary by store, so compare a few before you buy.
Around US$1,000 to US$1,300
Vaughn VPG ION Pro
Vaughn's ION Pro page lists:
- a solid, bevelled outside roll with no break at the knee
- more stiffness in the upper core and an easy-flex lower scoop
- an inner knee block built into the core
- an open knee cradle and a wide leg cradle
Vaughn says the high-density front surface is there for "extra active rebounds." That is the maker's description. Sizes run 32+2 to 35+2.
Vaughn also lists an ION Pro Select as a separate product. The Hockey Shop sells it as the ION Select Senior at CA$2,499.99, against CA$1,299.99 for the ION Pro, and Just Hockey Toronto also lists it at CA$2,499.99 (both checked October 16, 2026).
Price: US$1,049.99 at GoalieMonkey. CA$1,299.99 at The Hockey Shop. Both checked October 16, 2026.
Vaughn VPG VX1 Pro
On its VX1 Pro page, Vaughn lists:
- three flat knee rolls and a lower-profile outside roll with a single break
- a firm internal core with high-density side rails
- an easy-flex lower scoop
- a knee landing attached to the inner core
- a two-way adjustable knee cradle strap
- an outer knee cradle pad that can be adjusted or removed
Sizes run 32+2 to 36+2, one size longer than the ION Pro. This is not a 2026 pad: The Hockey Shop's product copy places the VX1 Pro in Vaughn's 2025 Velocity collection.
Price: US$1,299.99 at GoalieMonkey. CA$1,499.99 at The Hockey Shop. Both stores list the pad as the Velocity VX1 Pro. Checked October 16, 2026.
Around US$1,900 to US$2,100
Bauer SUPREME FUSE
Bauer's SUPREME FUSE senior page lists:
- a Mid-Flex profile, which Bauer says blends a stiff pad's rigidity with a softer pad's manoeuvrability
- a CURV composite thigh rise
- a STABILISLIDE knee block connected to the pad core
- a low single-bracket calf plate
- a PRO+ Elastic Toe System that stretches off the boot in the butterfly
- a Rebound Edge outer roll
- SLID3R skin
- a Rebound-Boost Core
The rebound and sliding benefits are Bauer's claims.
Price: US$1,899.99 on Bauer's US store and at GoalieMonkey. Bauer's Canadian store lists CA$2,199.99. Pro Hockey Life has CA$2,249.99. All checked October 16, 2026.
CCM TACKS PRO
CCM's US product page lists:
- the FZN 150-V Core, a 150-degree V-shaped profile that CCM says is built for coverage in the butterfly and RVH
- Infinite Power Rebound foam in that core
- a high-density, one-piece DRS Pro+ landing zone
- the ADPTFIT 360 fit system, which CCM says is built for leg positioning and rotation, with two areas of adjustment
- a Speed Channel inset and Cross Glide material, which CCM calls its fastest sliding material yet
Price: US$1,999.99 on CCM's US store and at GoalieMonkey. CA$2,299.99 on CCM's Canadian store and at Pro Hockey Life. All checked October 16, 2026.
Warrior Alpha Surge
The Hockey Shop and GoalieMonkey list Warrior's 2026 senior pad, the Alpha Surge, with:
- knee and calf plates anchored into the core by rigid C-shaped HyperComp brackets
- a one-piece core and a thigh rise with a dual layer of HyperComp
- a 90-degree boot with a mid-stiff flex profile
- removable SlidePlates on the knee stack
- adjustable strapping across the knees and calves
Those are the stores' descriptions. The Hockey Shop lists senior sizes 32+1.5 to 36+1.5.
Price: CA$2,199.99 at The Hockey Shop. In the US, GoalieMonkey lists custom builds:
- US$1,899.99 for the 29 Zone Cut & Sew and the Cut & Sew Classic
- US$1,999.99 for the 34 Zone Hybrid
All checked October 16, 2026.
TRUE Catalyst Nitro Pro
The Hockey Shop and GoalieMonkey list TRUE's 2026 top pad, the Catalyst Nitro Pro, with an adjustable stiffness knee stack, which lets goalies tighten or loosen how the knee stack sits on the core. That is the stores' description.
Price: US$2,099.99 at GoalieMonkey, which sells it as a senior custom pad. CA$2,499.99 at The Hockey Shop. Both checked October 16, 2026.
Do not confuse it with the Catalyst Nitro, a separate senior pad that GoalieMonkey lists at US$1,899.99 (checked October 16, 2026).
Custom-sized
Brian's Kryptik
Brian's Kryptik leg pad page offers two profiles. MAX has "an aggressive pre-shaped curve at the knee" meant to help close the five-hole, with an 87-degree toe taper. FLY has a linear profile meant for a flexible butterfly, with a 90-degree taper. Brian's also lists:
- a BRI-FUSE multi-density, thermo-reinforced thigh cuff that it says provides "significantly increased thigh rigidity"
- a redesigned integrated knee block with KOROYD Advance impact foam
- a flat, laceless face
- a three-setting Smart Calf strap and a below-knee angled strap
- SMART CORD toe strapping
Senior sizes run 31 to 38 inches, with custom sizing.
Price: Brian's lists custom sizing and custom options for the Kryptik on its site, so check there for the price of the pad you want.
Prices change
Every price above is what the named store or maker listed on October 16, 2026. Goalie pad prices and stock change often, and custom builds come with their own wait times, so check the store's page for price, stock, sizes and timing before you order.
