CCM Recalls Its Hybrid Visor And Replacement Visor Over Cracking Risk
Health Canada and UK regulators say the polycarbonate can develop micro-fissures around the screw holes and could crack under puck impact, and owners are told to stop using it now.
If you play in a CCM hybrid visor, stop using it and check it tonight. Health Canada posted a recall on August 6, 2026 for the CCM Hybrid Visor and the Replacement Visor accessory, and the notice is blunt about the remedy: consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Sport Maska Inc. (CCM). The UK's Office for Product Safety and Standards published its own recall of the same visors on July 20, 2026, and rates the risk high.
The product is CCM's hybrid facial protector, a cage portion joined by screws to a polycarbonate portion, plus the standalone accessory kit, which Health Canada's parts table describes as containing one replacement visor, two side clips, two spacers and two screws. Four part numbers are affected. 5490135 and 5490136 are the S/M and M/L hybrid, both listed as Black Chrome. 5490095 and 5490137 are the S/M and M/L replacement accessory.
One naming wrinkle. Health Canada's summary line calls the hybrid "Style FMVHR", but the parts table on that same page, the UK notice and CCM's own recall page all write it FMHVR. It is the same product.
Identifying yours takes seconds. On the hybrid, CCM says to look at the outside of the metal plate securing the polycarbonate visor to the cage on the right side, looking through the visor. If "HVR" appears at the top of that plate, above where it says CCM in red, the product is affected. On the replacement accessory, look for a serial number beginning with "SR", engraved into the polycarbonate at the top corner on the right side.
The hazard, in Health Canada's words, is that the polycarbonate "may in some cases develop micro-fissures around the screw holes that connect the polycarbonate portion to the cage portion", which could potentially lead to cracking under a powerful impact, such as a puck travelling at high velocity. Health Canada says CCM determined the products do not fully align with the company's current manufacturing quality standards and decided to initiate a voluntary recall. As of July 17, 2026, the company had received no reports of incident or injury in Canada.
What you get back is described two ways, so expect some friction. Health Canada says CCM will provide a replacement full face protector. CCM's own recall page says owners will be offered a replacement visor, free of charge. That page carries a Submit Your Recall Claim link at us.ccmhockey.com/recallform.html and tells owners to return the product to their nearest participating retailer. Health Canada lists CCM's number as 1-800-644-1677, Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm ET, and its email as [email protected].
CCM reported 8,895 units sold in Canada between May 2024 and April 2026.
